TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – The School Division Office of Tayabas City recently announced the launch of "Project Kakampi," or Kabataang Kaagapay sa Matatag na Pilipinas, a groundbreaking financial education and savings program for students. This initiative aims to equip young learners with essential financial knowledge and skills, empowering them to make informed financial decisions from an early age.
In partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Civil Registrar Tayabas, cooperatives, and financial agencies, DepEd Tayabas has developed "Project Kakampi" in response to the mandates of Republic Act 10922, Republic Act 10679, and DepEd Order No. 22, series 2021, which all underscore the importance of financial education in the youth's development.
"Project Kakampi" will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts, including budgeting, saving, investing, and responsible borrowing. Through interactive workshops, seminars, and learning materials, students will gain practical knowledge and skills that they can apply in their daily lives.
The program's formal launch was held at Tayabas City Integrated School and featured a symbolic ceremonial placing of a coin in a large coin bank, signifying the program's commitment to fostering a culture of saving among students. Key stakeholders from partner organizations expressed their unwavering support for "Project Kakampi" by signing a commitment to ensure its successful implementation.
"We believe that financial literacy is crucial for our students' future success," said a DepEd Tayabas representative. "By providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge, we are empowering them to become responsible and financially secure individuals."
A DepEd Tayabas representative added, "This program is not just about teaching students how to save money but also about instilling in them the values of financial responsibility and wise decision-making."
"Project Kakampi" is expected to benefit thousands of students across Tayabas City, contributing to the development of financially literate and empowered youth. Through this initiative, students will not only learn how to manage their finances effectively but also develop a mindset that values long-term financial stability.
