TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – PhilHealth Regional Office IV-A today announced impressive strides toward universal healthcare coverage, reporting that an impressive 91.6% of its target population had enrolled as of September 2024. Leading this success is Quezon Province, which has not only exceeded enrollment targets but also expanded access to primary care through innovative programs like "Konsulta."

Acting Regional Vice President Edwin Oriña expressed pride in the region's progress. "We are incredibly proud of the progress made. This brings us closer to our goal of ensuring all Filipinos have access to quality, affordable healthcare."

Quezon province has significantly expanded its Konsulta Provider Network, with over 927,200 beneficiaries now enrolled. This program offers a comprehensive range of outpatient benefits, including consultations, health screenings, and medications.

Further strengthening the healthcare landscape, PhilHealth IV-A is launching a Health Care Provider Network (HCPN) in Quezon. This network will provide access to 53 essential medications and expand healthcare services, improving overall care for residents.

PhilHealth held its PhilHealth Forward event in Tayabas City to showcase achievements, highlight new programs, and detail enhanced benefits. The event also served as a platform to engage with stakeholders and gather feedback on how to further improve healthcare services in the region.

Overall, PhilHealth IV-A's commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare remains steadfast as they continue to innovate and collaborate with local providers. Through partnerships with local health facilities and government agencies, PhilHealth IV-A aims to ensure that all residents have access to affordable and quality healthcare services.

Vice President for Corporate Affairs Group, Rey T. Baleña, presented a range of these enhancements, which include adjustments to coverage for common illnesses, severe acute malnutrition, breast cancer, dengue, and COVID-19. He also emphasized the lifting of the Single Period of Confinement rule.

This change allows for multiple confinements within a year for different illnesses, ensuring continuous care for patients with recurring health conditions or those facing multiple health challenges. Baleña highlighted the importance of these enhancements in providing comprehensive healthcare coverage for PhilHealth members.

The PhilHealth Forward event welcomed 300 participants, including healthcare providers, local government officials, and PhilHealth members, fostering engagement with stakeholders and gathering valuable feedback. Oriña underscored the "Pinalawak at mga Bagong Benepisyo para sa Mamamayang Filipino" campaign, aimed at raising awareness about PhilHealth's expanded benefits.

In line with its commitment to accessible healthcare, PhilHealth IV-A highlighted the eGov PH platform. Developed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), this mobile application acts as a one-stop shop for government services, including PhilHealth transactions.

Oriña emphasized the proactive approach of the "PhilHealth Konsulta" program. "It aims to safeguard Filipinos' health by preventing chronic illnesses, detecting complications early, and offering affordable medications," he stated.

"We are confident that the PCPN and HCPN models will significantly improve healthcare access and outcomes for the people of Quezon Province and beyond," Oriña added.

This progress is further supported by the leadership of Quezon Province Governor Angelina "Helen" Tan, M.D., a staunch advocate for public health. Under her guidance, the province has prioritized improving healthcare infrastructure, expanding medical services, and increasing the number of healthcare professionals in rural areas.
