CANDELARIA, Quezon - Renowned singer and PCSO Director Imelda Papin, affectionately known as the "Jukebox Queen," led a medical and dental mission in Candelaria, Quezon on December 3, 2024.

This mission highlighted Papin's "Isang Linggong Serbisyo" program, a unique initiative she launched five months ago to extend PCSO's medical assistance program beyond weekdays.

Partnering with Candelaria Mayor George D. Suayan, the PCSO provided essential healthcare services to 500 residents. The mission offered a range of services, including medical checkups, dental examinations, and distribution of medicines.

"We are incredibly grateful to PCSO and Director Papin for bringing these vital services to our community," said Mayor Suayan. "This medical and dental mission will significantly benefit our residents, particularly those who lack access to regular healthcare."

"Having Director Papin here today truly underscores the PCSO's commitment to the well-being of our community," Mayor Suayan added. "Her presence and her program show that the PCSO is not just about games of chance, but about making a real difference in the lives of Filipinos."

By offering services seven days a week, "Isang Linggong Serbisyo" ensures that Filipinos facing urgent medical needs or financial hardship can access crucial aid without the added burden of waiting for regular office hours.

Papin, appointed to the PCSO Board of Directors by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. this past June, continues to demonstrate her commitment to public service by bringing essential healthcare services to communities throughout the Philippines.

Adding a touch of warmth and inspiration to the event, Papin surprised and delighted the crowd with a heartfelt performance of her iconic hit, "Bakit." The song, a beloved classic in Filipino culture, resonated deeply with the audience, creating a joyous and uplifting atmosphere.

"This is what public service is all about – reaching out to our fellow Filipinos and offering support in every way we can," Papin shared with the crowd. "Music has the power to heal and inspire, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my gift with the people of Candelaria."

"It brings me immense joy to witness the PCSO touching lives directly, especially through 'Isang Linggong Serbisyo'," Papin added. "Extending our services to weekends ensures that help is available when it's needed most, and that's what truly matters."

This visit showcased Papin's multifaceted approach to serving her community. With a career spanning decades, Papin has consistently demonstrated her commitment to public service.

Notably, she served as Vice Governor of Camarines Sur. By combining her passion for helping others with her musical talent, she created a memorable experience for the residents of Candelaria, leaving a lasting impression of compassion and care.

This initiative exemplifies the PCSO's ongoing commitment to providing aid and improving the lives of Filipinos nationwide. With dedicated leaders like Imelda Papin at the helm, the agency continues to make a positive impact on communities throughout the country.
