QUEZON, Quezon— The municipality of Quezon is celebrating a recent and significant advancement, having officially been reclassified from a 5th class to a 4th class municipality. Formalized through Department Order No. 074-2024 from the Department of Finance (DOF), this achievement is a testament to the municipality's consistent efforts in improving its financial standing.

This reclassification is grounded in Republic Act No. 11964, the "Automatic Income Classification of Local Government Units Act," which provides a framework for categorizing local government units based on their financial capabilities. Quezon's transition to 4th class status reflects its success in meeting the requirements of this act, demonstrating its strong economic performance and potential for further growth.

"This is a momentous occasion for the people of Quezon," declared Mayor Juan F. Escolano. "Our reclassification is a testament to the collective efforts of our community, our dedicated local government, and our partners in progress." This elevation unlocks significant benefits for Quezon, including greater financial autonomy and increased funding for crucial development initiatives.

It paves the way for enhanced public services, attracting investments, and creating more employment opportunities. "We envision a Quezon where progress is tangible, opportunities abound, and the well-being of our people is at the forefront of our endeavors," added Mayor Escolano. "This reclassification empowers us to turn this vision into a reality."

In addition to its reclassification success, Quezon has also been recognized for its outstanding performance in digital governance. The municipality was honored as one of the Top 3 Most Outstanding LGUs among 4th and 5th class municipalities in the CALABARZON region during the CALABARZON eLGU-BPLS Summit 2024. This award highlights Quezon's successful implementation of the Electronic Local Government Unit Business Permit and Licensing System (eLGU-BPLS).

By embracing digital transformation, Quezon has streamlined the process of acquiring business permits, making it faster and more convenient for entrepreneurs. This has fostered a business-friendly environment, contributing to the municipality's economic growth and development.

Quezon also received multiple accolades at the Lingkod Parangal sa Paghahayupan (Livestock Service Awards) on December 4th, 2024. The municipality was lauded for its outstanding implementation of livestock and poultry programs, its commitment to transparency and efficient data management, and its proactive efforts in disease prevention, particularly in controlling African Swine Fever.

These achievements, coupled with the recognition of Rhyan Jessie Serrano as the Best LGU Artificial Insemination (AI) Technician, underscore Quezon's dedication to agricultural advancement and its commitment to ensuring a safe and prosperous future for its community.
