LUCENA CITY, Quezon - Entrepreneurs in Quezon Province are receiving valuable support and recognition for their hard work and dedication. This comes as the province gains national attention for its innovative program designed to foster small business growth. A key goal of this program is to equip residents with the skills and resources they need to build successful businesses and contribute to the local economy.
To this end, the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) awarded the province the prestigious National Builder Award on December 19th at the PTTC Building in Pasay City. The award ceremony brought together government officials, business leaders, and program participants to celebrate Quezon Province's achievement.
This accolade highlights Quezon Province's exceptional commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and driving economic growth within its communities. Project Development Officer III Lawrence Joseph Velasco accepted the award on behalf of Governor Doktora Helen Tan, who spearheaded the initiative. The National Builder Award is a distinguished honor given to Local Government Units (LGUs), private companies, and individuals with impactful programs that stimulate business development.
Adding to the praise, PTTC Executive Director Nelly Nita Dillera remarked, "We are very proud to recognize Quezon Province for its outstanding work in promoting entrepreneurship. The STEP-UP program is a shining example of how local governments can empower their citizens and drive economic development."
Quezon Province earned this recognition for the success of its STEP-UP Entrepreneurship Development Program, a key initiative of Governor Tan to improve the livelihoods of Quezonian citizens. STEP-UP is an intensive 15-day training program designed to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The program provides comprehensive training and pairs participants with student partners, creating a collaborative learning environment where practical experience meets technical expertise.
STEP-UP goes beyond traditional training by providing graduates with essential resources like collapsible kiosks, tents, and chairs, along with new packaging designs from PLTC Merkado. It also facilitates market access through the TANkilik Hub at WalterMart Candelaria and the Iskaparate Online App. This comprehensive support system ensures businesses have the tools and platforms they need to thrive.
