LUCENA CITY, Quezon – With the holiday season upon us, families across the Philippines are eagerly preparing for reunions and celebrations. Quezon Province is committed to ensuring a safe and joyous Yuletide season for all residents and visitors. To achieve this, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is taking proactive steps to coordinate efforts across various agencies.
Led by Provincial Administrator Manny Butardo, representing Governor Doktora Helen Tan, the PDRRMO conducted a meeting today with provincial offices and municipal representatives via Zoom Conference. This meeting focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination to ensure a swift and efficient response to any unforeseen events during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Participants included representatives from law enforcement, emergency services, and local government units, all working together to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday season for everyone. The meeting served as a platform for these agencies to share information, discuss potential challenges, and coordinate their efforts for a smooth and incident-free holiday period.
This proactive approach comes as the Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) has intensified its own measures to ensure public safety. As reported by the Manila Bulletin, over 670 lawmen have been deployed to patrol key areas like public transportation hubs, commercial establishments, and areas where large crowds gather. This heightened police presence aims to deter crime and maintain peace and order throughout the holiday season.
With the anticipation of increased traffic flow, the meeting emphasized the importance of traffic management and mitigation. The QPPO, in line with their heightened holiday presence, assured the availability of alternative routes and bypass roads to address potential congestion, particularly along the Maharlika Highway where they have deployed motorcycle patrols.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Quezon committed to undertaking road patching for damaged roads and installing temporary signage for ongoing road repairs. This will help ensure safer and more efficient travel for motorists throughout the province during the busy holiday season.
Public assistance desks and motorist assistance centers organized by municipalities will also play a crucial role in ensuring smooth traffic flow throughout the province. These centers will be staffed with personnel ready to provide assistance, information, and directions to travelers.
In addition, the meeting aimed to pass a resolution for the establishment of a 911 Provincial Emergency Hotline in Quezon Province. This hotline will provide a centralized and easily accessible number for residents and visitors to report emergencies and seek assistance.
The Provincial Government remains steadfast in its commitment to providing continuous service and ensuring the safety of all Quezonians during the holiday season. Through these coordinated efforts, Quezon Province aims to provide a secure and festive atmosphere for everyone to enjoy the holidays.
