LUCENA CITY, Quezon - The Quezon Provincial Police Office (QPPO), led by Provincial Director P/Col. Ruben Lacuesta, paid a traditional New Year's call to Governor Angelina "Helen" at the Provincial Capitol today January 30, 2025, reaffirming their commitment to collaboration and public service in the year ahead.
The New Year's Call is an annual tradition where PNP members pay a call to their commanders and key officials in their respective areas of responsibility. It helps define the very essence of military and police profession and designed to build esprit de corps and camaraderie.
The visit also signifies the strong partnership between the provincial government and the police force in ensuring the safety and security of Quezon Province. This collaboration is crucial in maintaining peace and order, and fostering a conducive environment for the province's growth and development.
During the courtesy call, P/Col. Lacuesta extended his New Year's greetings and reaffirmed QPPO's commitment to upholding peace and order in the province. He also presented a brief report on the province's crime situation and the QPPO's accomplishments in the past year, highlighting the decrease in crime rate and successful operations against criminals.
On top of his marching orders and strategic guidance to members of the command group, directorial staff, provincial and city directors and directors of regional support units, Lacuesta underscored the PNP's operational thrust on anti-criminality and illegal drugs as well as stakeholders and community support which contributed to the overall performance of Quezon Province.
"We are in this together and I am optimistic that we will realize all our plans and programs this year with more deliberate and calibrated actions primed with excellence, optimizing the utilization of our human, money and material resources available," Lacuesta said.
"All that we have achieved last year were done with capabilities that still reside within our organization. And this year, we will aim for greater heights in our accomplishment as we approach it together as a stronger force making sure our communities are safer and feeling safer throughout 2024," he added.
Meanwhile Governor Tan expressed her gratitude for the dedication and service of the QPPO and assured them of the provincial government's continued support for their programs and initiatives. She also took the opportunity to address the challenges that lie ahead, particularly insurgency and the proliferation of illegal drugs.
"In totality, how you keep the community safe and the challenges you face, with the Local Government Code supporting the disparity of the local and national in implementing policies and programs, the challenge is what to do with the lack of funds. The situation of the police and teachers are the same, needing to improve. Despite these challenges, peace and order must be maintained," the Governor said.
"Being resourceful and exploring innovative solutions will be key to overcoming these obstacles and continuing to serve our community effectively," she added. "We must work together, finding new ways to maximize our resources and ensure that our police force and educators have the support they need to perform their duties. This also includes providing the necessary resources and support to ensure peaceful and orderly elections in the coming years."
The New Year's call affirmed the strong partnership between the QPPO and the provincial government, with both pledging to further strengthen their collaboration and work hand-in-hand towards a safer and more peaceful Quezon Province. Both leaders expressed confidence that with continued cooperation and dedication, Quezon will continue to thrive in the years to come.
