TIAONG, Quezon - With dengue cases on the rise, the municipality of Tiaong is taking proactive steps to combat the disease. The Municipal Health Office held an inter-agency emergency meeting today, January 30, 2025, at the SB Session Hall to address the growing concern. The meeting was attended by 31 Barangay Captains from different barangays in Tiaong and department heads of the local government.
The meeting was called upon the directive of Mayor RJ Mea, Vice Mayor Dick Umali, and the Sangguniang Bayan Members, aiming to provide accurate information and implement preventive measures against the spread of dengue. Through the collaborative efforts of local leaders and government agencies, the meeting sought to deepen understanding and cooperation in safeguarding the community from dengue. Discussions focused on effective strategies and actions to mitigate the risks and ensure the safety of all residents.
In line with these efforts, misting operations are also being conducted today in Barangay Lalig and at the DCHU school. This initiative, led by the General Services Office (GSO) and the Sanitation Office of the Municipal Health Office, aims to protect the community and eliminate disease-carrying mosquitoes. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the misting operations and take necessary precautions to prevent dengue, such as keeping their surroundings clean and free from stagnant water.
The local government continues to work together to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents. Residents are urged to cooperate with these efforts by keeping their surroundings clean, eliminating potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes, and seeking immediate medical attention if they experience any dengue symptoms. The combined efforts of the government and the community are crucial in the fight against dengue and in protecting public health.
The Department of Health (DOH) is reminding the public to remain vigilant against dengue fever, especially during this time of year when cases are typically on the rise. Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection that can cause severe flu-like illness and, in some cases, lead to complications and even death. The DOH stresses the importance of "4S" strategy against dengue: Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, Self-protection measures, Seek early consultation, and Support fogging/spraying in hotspot areas.
The DOH also advises the public to be aware of the common symptoms of dengue, which include high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pains, nausea, vomiting, swollen glands, and rash. Early detection and prompt medical attention are crucial in managing dengue and preventing severe complications. The public is encouraged to consult a doctor immediately if they suspect they have dengue.
