LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A strong local economy hinges on attracting investment, and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Quezon Provincial Office is taking proactive steps to ensure Local Government Units (LGUs) have the tools they need to succeed.

Recognizing this crucial link, the DTI partnered with the Provincial Government of Quezon to conduct a vital Provincial Investment Promotions Orientation for LGUs on March 21, 2024. Held at the Quezon Capitol Compound in Lucena City, the orientation aimed to equip LGUs with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively promote investments within their respective jurisdictions.

The Provincial Economic Development and Investments Promotions Office, under the leadership of Mr. Emmanuel S. Querubin, spearheaded the event said the orientation provided a comprehensive overview of the LGUs' vital role in attracting investments to the province, "This initiative directly stems from the "Capacity Building Workshop on Formulation / Updating of the Local Investment and Initiatives Code" (LIIC) hosted by DTI Quezon in November 2023, demonstrating the agency's ongoing commitment to enhancing Quezon's investment climate and overall competitiveness."

The orientation covered a range of key topics, including investment promotion strategies, the development of local investment incentive packages, and the streamlining of business permitting processes. Participants also learned about the importance of creating a business-friendly environment and fostering strong relationships with potential investors.

"The action planning session that followed allowed LGUs to develop concrete plans for implementing the knowledge gained during the orientation, ensuring that the event's impact extends beyond the day itself, laying the groundwork for immediate and sustained action. This collaborative planning process fostered a sense of shared responsibility and commitment among LGUs in driving investment promotion efforts." he added.

Key figures from DTI Region 4-A Calabarzon, including Regional Director Ms. Marissa C. Argente and DTI Quezon Provincial Director Julieta L. Tadiosa, along with DTI staff, actively participated in the orientation and the subsequent LGU action planning session. The program culminated in the oathtaking ceremony for the new Quezon Association of LEDIPOs officers. These newly appointed officers will play a crucial role in driving initiatives that foster a more attractive environment for investment and development throughout Quezon Province.

This initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote economic development in the Calabarzon region. DTI Region 4-A has been actively working with LGUs to improve their investment promotion capabilities and create a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive. By strengthening local investment promotion efforts, Quezon Province aims to attract new businesses, generate employment opportunities, and increase economic activity throughout the region.
