LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Recognizing the vital role animals play in the lives and livelihoods of Quezon Province residents, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) is expanding its free veterinary care program. Building on successful missions earlier this year in San Antonio, Tiaong, and Plaridel, the OPV is bringing essential services to even more communities.

The free veterinary care will be available in Unisan on February 12, San Francisco on February 15, and Mulanay on February 16. These initiatives, led by the provincial government and driven by the theme "Maunlad at Responsableng Paghahayupan para sa Kalusugan at Yaman ng Mamamayan, Sama-Sama Nating Pagsumikapan,".

The OPV provided comprehensive veterinary medical missions in San Antonio and Tiaong, while in Plaridel, the focus was a crucial anti-rabies vaccination campaign. To further combat rabies, the OPV recently conducted a vaccination drive in Plaridel, where an estimated 937 dogs and cats from nine barangays (villages) received vaccinations. The goal is to raise awareness and emphasize that vaccination is the most effective way to prevent rabies, which can be transmitted to humans through animal bites.

Residents of Unisan, San Francisco, Mulanay, and neighboring areas are encouraged to bring their animals and take advantage of these valuable free services on their respective dates. These missions highlight the OPV's proactive approach to collaborating with communities to build a robust agricultural sector and promote responsible animal care across the province.

The Veterinary Medical Missions promise comprehensive care for animals in the community. Experienced veterinarians will be on hand to offer consultations, providing expert advice on animal health, nutrition, and responsible pet ownership.

In addition to consultations, the missions will provide essential services such as free anti-rabies vaccinations, deworming treatments to eliminate internal parasites, and veterinary medicines to address common animal illnesses. These services aim to promote animal well-being and prevent future health issues.

The OPV, led by Dr. Flomella Caguicla, along with Dr. Milcah Valente and Mr. Rommel Deapera, and in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Offices of the respective towns, aims to contribute to the overall health and economic well-being of each community by providing these free services. The OPV also reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable livestock practices and strengthening partnerships with stakeholders in the future.

The office believes that collaboration and education are key to ensuring the long-term health and well-being of animals in the province. Additional details regarding these broader initiatives will be shared soon.
