LUCENA CITY, Quezon – PhilHealth commemorated its 30th anniversary with a strong focus on enhanced benefits and a renewed commitment to providing financial security for Filipinos, embodied in their theme "Panatag Kami Dito". PhilHealth Regional Office IVA, under the leadership of Acting Regional Vice President Edwin M. Oriña, MD, spearheaded the celebration, highlighting significant improvements to the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).

A central event was the "Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas," conducted in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA). During this event, ARVP Oriña unveiled the new and expanded benefits set to take effect on January 1, 2025, solidifying PhilHealth's dedication to its members. These enhancements mark a significant milestone in PhilHealth’s mission to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage.

PhilHealth's 30th anniversary is marked by a substantial expansion of benefits, designed to provide greater financial security for Filipinos. This includes a range of improvements aimed at addressing critical healthcare needs and reducing financial burdens. Recognizing the high cost of peritoneal dialysis, coverage has been significantly raised, with amounts ranging from P389,640 to P1.2 million, tailored to the patient's specific needs, particularly benefiting pediatric patients.

The Z Package for Kidney Transplantation now offers significantly increased coverage, exceeding Php1 million for Living Organ Donor Transplantation and reaching Php2.14 million for Deceased Organ Donor Transplantation. Emphasizing preventive care, PhilHealth now includes preventive oral health services as part of its primary care offerings. A new and comprehensive Outpatient Emergency Care Benefit has been introduced to cover emergency services.

PhilHealth now extends coverage to ED and emergency transport services for cases that do not result in hospital admission, available at OECB-accredited facilities. To alleviate financial burdens, significant increases have been implemented for case rate packages.

These advancements underscore PhilHealth's dedication to improving access to and affordability of essential health services, ensuring that Filipinos can access quality healthcare without facing overwhelming financial strain. "These updates mark a significant transformation in PhilHealth’s coverage," ARVP Oriña stated, emphasizing the 50% increase in case rate packages for conditions under the Z Benefit Package.

Field Operations Chief Arturo C. Ardiente, in his welcome address, reassured the public that "PhilHealth is standing stronger and even better," reiterating its role as a "beacon of hope." He also acknowledged the ongoing challenge of educating the public about the importance of the NHIP as a social product.

In addition to the informational sessions, PhilHealth conducted a series of marketing activities, including dialogues, forums, orientations, and PhilHealth Konsulta Caravans. Local Health Insurance Offices (LHIOs) also provided special treats for clients, including pampering services, medical consultations, and snack treats, in partnership with health facilities and private companies. A Thanksgiving Mass commenced the anniversary celebrations.

These activities were more than just celebratory events; they served a dual purpose. Firstly, they aimed to inform and educate PhilHealth members about the significant enhancements to their benefits, ensuring that Filipinos are aware of the increased financial protection and expanded coverage available to them.

Secondly, these activities were a way for PhilHealth to express sincere gratitude to its members for their continued trust and support. Offering pampering services, medical consultations, and tokens of appreciation, PhilHealth demonstrated its commitment to valuing and prioritizing the well-being of its members.

February is National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) Month, and PhilHealth's anniversary on February 14th underscores its dedication to providing social health insurance protection. The theme "Panatag Kami Dito" reflects PhilHealth's commitment to providing peace of mind to its members, assuring them of financial support during medical crises.
