The Tayabas City Civil Registrar’s Office (CCRO) leads a motorcade to mark the start of Civil Registration Month (Tayabas City CICRO) |
TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - In time for the 35th Civil Registration Month, the Tayabas City Civil Registrar’s Office (CCRO) on February 3, 2025 organized a range of activities highlighting the importance of civil registry. Observed every February, this year’s theme is “Building a Resilient, Agile and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) System.”
CRVS refers to the comprehensive system of recording vital events like births, marriages, and deaths. A well-functioning CRVS is essential for individuals and governments, providing crucial data for planning and development. Tayabas City has officially launched its month-long celebration, emphasizing the critical role of accurate and accessible civil registration for all its citizens.
The celebration began with a vibrant motorcade through the city streets, led by City Civil Registrar Maide Jader and staff from the PSA Quezon Provincial Office. This motorcade served as a public announcement, informing residents about the various activities and free services available throughout the month.
According to Jader, "This year, residents can benefit from a comprehensive range of free services offered by the City Civil Registry Office. These include free registration of births, marriages, and deaths, ensuring these vital events are officially recorded. The office is also offering free correction of errors in civil registry documents, allowing individuals to rectify inaccuracies."
"The City Civil Registry Office is also providing free services for those needing to change their name, sex, or date of birth. They will also be issuing certified copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates free of charge, making it easier for residents to obtain these essential documents." she added.
Beyond these essential services, the city has organized several contests for students and members of various organizations, designed to engage the community and raise awareness about CRVS. These contests will further emphasize the value of accurate and up-to-date records for individuals and the community as a whole.
Acting City Mayor Rosauro “Oro” Dalida has expressed his full support for the activities organized by the CCRO throughout February. He emphasized the city's commitment to ensuring that all residents have access to these vital services and understand the importance of civil registration.
The launch events included displays, the awareness-raising motorcade, and distribution of information materials outlining the schedule of free services. These free services will be promoted at gatherings such as the flag raising ceremony, the Federation of Senior Citizens meeting, and the ERB meeting.
IEC materials and schedules of free services, along with Kasalang Bayan posters, will be distributed in all 66 barangays. Other activities include a quiz bee for LCRO employees, on-call mobile registration for birthing homes and FDS, and validation of i-BCRIS data.
The CCRO encourages all residents to take advantage of the free services offered during the 35th Civil Registration Month and to participate in the various activities planned. Ensuring proper registration of all vital events, Tayabas City is contributing to a robust and responsive CRVS, benefiting both its citizens and the region.
