TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – Eighty (80) public transport drivers from Tayabas City underwent free body fat and wellness check-ups, consultations, received free medication, laboratory procedures, ECG, chest X-rays, and ultrasounds during the Driver’s Health Awareness Day held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Trading Post of the Tayabas Public Market.
Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso reiterated her commitment to the health and well-being of Tayabas residents, including public transport drivers. She emphasized the importance of ensuring drivers are healthy and safe, given the daily demands of their profession and the need for them to return home safely to their families.
In addition to the comprehensive health services, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) facilitated on-site job applications for those seeking employment opportunities. The Office of the City Mayor – Information and Communications Technology (OCM-ICT) section also issued Tayabazen Pink Cards to eligible individuals.
The Driver’s Health Fair and Awareness Day was organized and managed by the Office of the City Mayor – Medical Health and Emergency Response Team (OCM-MHMERT), under the leadership of Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Maria Graciela D. De Leon.
"Our goal was to provide accessible and comprehensive health services directly to our drivers," said Dr. Maria Graciela D. De Leon. "We understand the physical demands of their work, and we wanted to ensure they have the resources to monitor and maintain their health. Early detection and preventative care are key to their well-being, and by extension, the safety of our community."
Dr. De Leon further added, "We aimed to create a one-stop-shop for their health needs, from basic check-ups to more specialized procedures. The positive response from the drivers shows the importance of these initiatives, and we hope to continue providing such services in the future."
