LOPEZ, Quezon – Dental Health Brought to the Forefront as the town of Lopez recently marked the 21st Oral Health Month with a day of comprehensive dental services and engaging competitions for local students. The event, held at the LWES Building 1, drew the participation of approximately 300 Grade 1 and 2 pupils.

The celebration featured a variety of activities aimed at promoting oral health awareness among young residents. Highlights included a Slogan Contest and a Poster Making Contest, where students showcased their creativity and understanding of dental hygiene.

Furthermore, the event provided crucial free dental services, including oral examinations, fluoride applications, pit and fissure sealant procedures, and oral prophylaxis. Each student also received a complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste.

In the Philippines, Oral Health Month, which culminates in National Oral Health Day on March 20, is a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene. It serves as a platform for various organizations, including government agencies, dental associations, and local communities, to conduct educational campaigns and provide essential dental services to the public.

Mayor Rachel Ubana graced the event, expressing the Local Government Unit's unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of Lopez's children. She emphasized the importance of early intervention and education in establishing lifelong healthy oral habits.

The successful event was spearheaded by Municipal Dentist Dr. Lorna Babiera, with the full support of the Local Government of Lopez, under the leadership of Mayor Rachel Ubana. Dentists from the Government Dentists Association of Quezon also played a vital role in the day's activities, contributing their expertise and dedication to the community's oral health.
