GUINAYANGAN, Quezon – Guinayangan Elementary School recently observed Girl-Child Week, reinforcing the powerful message that "Violence Has No Place in Society." The celebration, dedicated to educating and empowering young girls, featured a crucial visit from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), marking a significant step in the community's commitment to youth protection.
Led by Gerardo B. Cleofe, Laila Cortez, and in collaboration with Mary Joy Rosales, RN, the MSWDO team delivered vital information to the students. These sessions focused on equipping the girls with the knowledge to combat violence, abuse, and exploitation in both online and offline environments. Detailed orientations on Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAEM) were conducted, providing the girls with the tools to identify and respond to these threats.
It addressed the sensitive issue of adolescent pregnancy, highlighting its risks and consequences. Statistics demonstrate that early pregnancy significantly disrupts a girl's education and future opportunities, underscoring the importance of preventative education. This aspect of the program aimed to empower the girls with knowledge to make informed decisions about their health and future.
The event underscored the strong commitment from local leadership to protect the youth. Mayor Maden Isaac, Vice Mayor, and the members of the Sangguniang Bayan have consistently shown their full support for programs that raise awareness and combat all forms of violence against young people. Their active involvement highlights the community's dedication to creating a safe and supportive environment for its youth.
The impact of Girl-Child Week at Guinayangan Elementary School extends beyond a single event; it establishes a foundation for continued vigilance and empowerment. Equipping young girls with knowledge about online and offline abuse, and the risks of adolescent pregnancy, the school and MSWDO have ignited a sustained dialogue.
