POLILLO, Quezon – The coastal town of Polillo buzzed with vibrant activity on March 16, 2025, as the annual 7th Dragon Boat Festival drew thousands of spectators and participants. The rhythmic thunder of drums, coupled with the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd, transformed the tranquil bay into a dynamic and competitive arena, showcasing the power and precision of the participating teams.

The event proved to be a rigorous test of both endurance and skill for all competitors. Athletes faced challenging conditions, including periods of low visibility during the finals, demanding exceptional focus and teamwork. Both local and international teams rose to the challenge, delivering a spectacular display of athleticism and communal spirit that captivated the audience from dawn till dusk.

The festival featured a diverse array of global teams alongside Polillo's seasoned local paddlers, all engaged in a series of heart-pounding races that echoed across the bay. Organizers emphasized that the event transcended mere competition, highlighting its core message of unity and strength, which resonated with every stroke and drumbeat.

"This event embodies the enduring spirit and strength of our community," stated SB Ginalyn Flores, her voice resonating with pride amidst the jubilant crowd. She further emphasized the festival's crucial role in promoting environmental stewardship, citing the ongoing mangrove restoration projects along the coastline as a testament to Polillo's commitment to preserving its natural beauty and ensuring a sustainable future.

Radio anchor Zaldy Bautista captured the electrifying atmosphere with his trademark enthusiasm, noting the significant surge in tourism. "Polillo has undoubtedly become a major attraction," he declared, gesturing towards the packed shoreline and citing the festival's broad appeal to visitors from far and wide, all eager to witness the thrilling races and experience the island's unique charm.

International participants, including Team Bangladesh Dragon, highlighted the sport's unique ability to bridge cultural divides and foster lasting friendships. "This sport acts as a bridge, a potent connector," a coach remarked, beaming as he observed his team interacting with spectators, emphasizing that the camaraderie witnessed transcended language and cultural barriers.

Team BJMP's participation conveyed a profound message of hope and rehabilitation, deeply moving the audience. "For our participants, this transcends a mere race," a BJMP spokesperson stated, their voice filled with conviction and optimism. "It's a chance to rebuild, to discover strength in unity, and to prove that positive transformation is achievable."

The 2025 Dragon Boat Festival in Polillo was not merely an event, but a deeply immersive experience, seamlessly blending the thrill of sports with the vibrant spirit of the community.
