GUINAYANGAN, Quezon - The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Guinayangan, led by Mr. Roderick Marbella, conducted a comprehensive Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM) Orientation for Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers (BDRRMOs) on April 22.

The training aimed to equip BDRRMOs with enhanced knowledge and skills in effective disaster preparedness and response strategies. The MDRRMO office emphasized the crucial role of the BDRRMOs in cascading this vital information to their respective communities, thereby fostering a culture of safety and preparedness at the grassroots level.

During the orientation, the BDRRMOs also formalized their organizational structure by electing officers who will support them in the implementation of their duties and responsibilities within their barangays; this included the establishment of key positions such as a chairperson, secretary, and operations officer, ensuring a well-coordinated approach to local disaster risk reduction and management efforts.

In her speech, Municipal Mayor, Hon. Maden Isaac, urged the BDRRMOs to internalize the knowledge gained from the training and to readily apply it within their barangays, especially during times of critical need. She underscored the importance of community-led initiatives in building a safer and more resilient municipality.

She also expressed her full support to the newly elected BDRRMO officers, congratulating them on their commitment to serve their communities. The Mayor emphasized that their role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of their constituents during times of crisis and assured them of the local government's commitment to provide the necessary resources and assistance in carrying out their crucial tasks, including access to further training, equipment, and logistical support.

Through equipping BDRRMOs with the necessary tools and knowledge, this CBDRRM orientation signifies the local government's commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness at the barangay level in Guinayangan, recognizing the vital role of empowered communities in mitigating the impact of calamities. The municipality aims to build a robust network of first responders and proactive community members ready to face any potential disaster.
