DLL DDST dominates 2nd Hayin Open Dancesport Competition

LUCENA CITY, Quezon - Triumph on the tiles, the Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng Lucena (DLL) Dancesport Team (DDST) once again proved their prowess on the dance floor, securing a remarkable haul of awards at the 2nd Hayin Open Dancesport Competition held at Northern Quezon College Inc. in Infanta, Quezon last April 26. The talented Dalubcenian dancers returned to Lucena City with an impressive collection of 12 gold medals, 12 silver medals, 4 bronze medals, and 11 trophies.

The Modern Standard category witnessed a stellar performance from Allan Jay M. Obar and Shervill Cyd M. Ramirez, who swept three gold medals by claiming the top spot in Grade D (Waltz & Tango), Grade D (Waltz), and Grade E (Tango). The dynamic duo of Angelo Jay M. Musa and Shervill Cyd M. Ramirez further contributed to the gold rush, securing victories in Grade D (Waltz & Tango) and Grade E (Quickstep), alongside a silver medal in the competitive Inter-Collegiate C division.



John Carlo R. Sinag and Enzah Kashieka S. Malasmas also showcased their elegance and skill, earning a gold medal in Grade C, a silver in Grade D (Waltz & Tango), and a bronze in Inter-Collegiate C. Meanwhile, King Jannhel N. Driz and Angela Faith Garcia captured two silver medals in their Grade E events and finished a respectable fourth in the Inter-Collegiate C division.

In the vibrant Latin American division, Genedick C. De Guzman and Sarah Mae G. Casulla danced their way to double silver medals in the Inter-Collegiate A and C categories. Their success in this category underscores the breadth of the team's talent, highlighting the team's versatility across dance styles.

Joshua M. Abaña and Alyssa Kyla S. Del Carmen contributed a bronze medal in Inter-Collegiate C and demonstrated consistent performance by placing fifth in both Grade C and Grade D (Cha-Cha & Rumba). Alessandro H. Perez and Maria Nisa Laguerta also delivered strong performances, securing fourth place in Grade B, sixth in Inter-Collegiate C, and eighth in Grade D (Cha-Cha & Rumba).

Efren I. Malabunga III and Joana Marie B. Bañares, as well as Dustin Cedric A. Dedace and Princess Rhona Mae B. Misiera, displayed commendable effort and achieved notable rankings in their respective events, further solidifying the team's overall strength. Their participation and dedication contributed valuable points to the team's impressive overall performance.

The DDST’s outstanding performance at the 2nd Hayin Open underscored that Dalubcenian excellence extends beyond the academic realm, shining brightly in the vibrant world of sports and the performing arts. This impressive medal tally further cements DLL's reputation as a powerhouse not only in academics but also in extracurricular endeavors.

Overjoyed with their team's success, coaches Rouselle May Regio-Solatan and Vhon expressed their sincere gratitude to the entire DLL community for their unwavering support and belief in the talents of every Dalubcenian dancer. This latest victory serves as a testament to the dedication, hard work, and passion of the DLL Dancesport Team.

The 2nd Hayin Open Dancesport Competition, where the DLL DDST achieved their recent triumph, was an open competition. This anticipated event in the regional dancesport calendar likely featured various categories across different age groups and skill levels, spanning both Modern Standard and Latin American dances, and included an Inter-Collegiate division.
